Suphur, Okla. — The Oklahoma School for the Deaf (OSD) proudly announces that the graduating class of 2008 will celebrate commencement on May 23, at 10 a.m. in OSD campus auditorium, 1100 East Oklahoma Street, Sulphur, Okla.

Making this year’s class special are Madison Paige Dazley, Samuel Warren Fewel, William Wesley Moore, Wendi Elizabeth O'Connor, Matthew Tyler Payne, Carol Ann Seward, and Chelsie Lynn Stallings.

"It's been amazing watching these kids grow. I am very proud of the hard work they have done to reach this milestone," Larry Hawkins, OSD superintendent, said. “I know the future holds great things for them."

"As a residential school, these kids come, sometimes as early as preschool, and you really get attached. Every year, I feel as if they are my own kids graduating – this year is no different."

OSD is a division of the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), a state agency which assists Oklahomans with disabilities through vocational rehabilitation, education, employment, independent living programs and the determination of medical eligibility for disability benefits.

The school has been located in Sulphur since 1908. OSD provides residential and day school educational services at no charge for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The school provides a range of outreach programs, including pre-school programs and onsite consultation for public school students, their families, public school districts and communities statewide.
