Muskogee,
Okla. — The Oklahoma School for the Blind (OSB) proudly announces that the
graduating class of 2008 will celebrate commencement on May 21st, at noon in
OSB auditorium, 3300 Gibson Street, Muskogee, Okla.
Making this year’s class special are Grant Thomas Lewis Breslin, Daniel Ryan Flanagan, Stanley Kyle
Hodge, Dayna Michelle Malaer, Alex Christopher Myers, Johnathan Josiah
Bartlett Selfridge and Ashley Renee Williams.
“I just can’t believe it’s time again for another group to graduate,” Karen
Kizzia, OSB superintendent, said. “Many were just little ones when they
came.”
“I am very proud of them for achieving this milestone and I know that this
is just the first of many great things to come. I know they have work hard
for this success and will continue to succeed in the years ahead,” said
Kizzia.
OSB is a division of the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services
(DRS), a state agency which assists Oklahomans with disabilities through
vocational rehabilitation, education, employment, independent living
programs and the determination of medical eligibility for disability
benefits.
OSB was founded in 1897 at Fort Gibson as a private school for children who
are blind or visually impaired. Over the past 100 years, the school has
provided education programs at no charge for thousands of students with
visual disabilities, from students who attend school on campus to those
served through outreach programs for families, public school teachers and
communities statewide.
