NORMAN, Okla. –Employment services including training options for people with disabilities will be the focus when Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services comes to Blanchard Public Library on Monday, August 1.
The public is invited to attend the free DRS event from 10 a. m. to 4 p.m. 205 NE 10th St. in Blanchard.
DRS assists seekers with disabilities through career preparation, training, job placement and other services that build skills and qualifications needed in the workforce. The agency helps clients deal with barriers to employment, such as inaccessible worksites, lack of transportation and the need for specialized equipment or training.
“Not only can DRS help people with disabilities find a job, we can frequently help them to maintain or advance at their current employment,” Jan Hatch, DRS Vocational Rehabilitation program manager said.
DRS staff will be available to discuss employment services and answer questions.
“Sometimes a person just needs a job coach to partner with them in looking for, applying for and maintaining work or an applicant needs help with interview skills -- DRS can provide these services,” Linda Gerber, DRS Vocational Rehabilitation counselor said.
